CMS Hasche Sigle advises Georg von Holtzbrinck publishing group on takeover of regional post companies of PIN Group
Stuttgart, 01.10.2008The Georg von Holtzbrinck publishing group has acquired a stake in a total of 12 regional post companies of the PIN Group AG which had to register as insolvent at the beginning of 2008. A team led by Dr Maximilian Grub, partner of CMS Hasche Sigle, advised the Holtzbrinck publishing group on the matter. The insolvency administrator of the PIN Group, Dr Bruno Kübler, is the seller of the interests. The Holtzbrinck group will hold 100% of the shares in six companies. It already has a considerable stake in a further six companies. One of the companies involved is PIN Mail AG Berlin, the largest subsidiary of PIN Group AG. The companies assumed have approx. 2,500 employees. Details of the purchase price were not disclosed.
The companies are regional private postal services which offer their services in the catchment area for newspapers of the Georg von Holtzbrinck publishing group. In future these service providers will be linked more closely for operational purposes with the logistics companies of Holtzbrinck. The postal logistics will complement and reinforce the media and service offer provided by the regional media companies. The takeover is subject to approval by the Federal Cartel Office.
