Born in Lüdenscheid on 14.04.1963. Also attended school in Lüdenscheid, gaining his Abitur (A Level equivalent) in 1982, then alternative to military service at the Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe Märkischer Kreis (St John’s Ambulance Service) until 1984. Studied law in Marburg and Cologne, continuation course in business administration in Bonn. First state exam (Erstes Juristisches Staatsexamen) in Cologne. Second state law exam (Zweites Juristisches Staatsexamen) in Duesseldorf in 1994. Started practising as a lawyer with Sigle Loose Schmidt-Diemitz und Partner in Stuttgart in April 1995. From October 1997 to October 1998 secondment to Tissel & Co Advokatfirma AB in Stockholm/Sweden. Partner in the firm since 2000.
