Born in Hamburg in 1962. 1982 exchange student for a year in Virginia, USA, before completing Abitur(A Levels) in Hamburg and studying at the University of Tübingen.
1985/86 studies at the University of Aix-en-Provence, France, and attained Diplôme de Maîtrise en Droit, Mention Droit International.
After first part of law degree (Erstes Juristisches Staatsexamen) (1988), Civil Service and doctoral thesis in Tübingen. Return to Hamburg for legal traineeship, including work placements at the branch office of the Treuhandanstalt in Rostock (and subsequent employment as advisor) and in a San Francisco law firm.
1993/1994 second part of law degree (Zweites Juristisches Staatsexamen) and started practising as a lawyer with law firm Bruckhaus Westrick Stegemann in Hamburg. At CMS Hasche Sigle since 1995, partner since 1998. Specialist lawyer in Copyright and Media law.
