Born in 1958. Studied law in Cologne and Geneva. Scholarship holder of German National Academic Foundation. Worked for the Institute for Commercial Law in Geneva from 1982 to 1983 and for the Institute for Private International and Foreign Law in Cologne from 1983 to 1986. Doctorate on U.S. law of damages. Practiced law in Canadian law firm, Russel & DuMoulin (now: Fasken Martineau). Admitted to the Cologne Bar in 1987. Partner in the German law firm Gaedertz until 2001. From 2001 to 2004 partner in the English law firm Norton Rose. Since 2005 partner in CMS Hasche Sigle. From 1989 until 1999 Secretary General of the German-Chinese Lawyers' Association.
