Born in 1947 to a Swabian commercial family. Abitur (A levels) in Ravensburg, studied in Tübingen, Aix-en-Provence (Diplôme d’Études Juridiques Générales) and in Hamburg. Studied at University of California, Berkley (LLM.) in 1975/1976, an important time for him, which brought him lifelong friendships and was instrumental in leading him towards his field of work in an international law firm. Scholarship from Cusanuswerk. Academic assistant in the USA department of the Max Planck Institut for Foreign and International Private Law. Thesis on German and American antitrust, 1977-1980. Along with other publications co-author of "Business Transactions in Germany". Partner in the firm since 1983, in which he primarily looks after clients with foreign business. Main area of activity is providing advice on purchasing companies and shareholdings, company law and national and international trade agreements. He devotes his leisure time to his family, literature and pro bono work for non-profit making organisations for the disabled.
