Born in Herdecke in 1971. Studied law at the Universities of Bochum and Freiburg. 1995 first state exam (Erstes Juristisches Staatsexamen) in Freiburg. 1996 – 1997 LL.M. studies at University of Miami, Carol Gables, USA. Admission to the New York Bar 1998. Legal traineeship in Berlin, Bruxelles and Buenos Aires 1997 – 1999. Second state exam (Zweites Juristisches Staatsexamen) in Berlin in 1999. Doctorate (Promotion) in energy law as part of Ph.D. program "European Private and Commercial Law" of Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft e. V. (Humboldt University in Berlin) 1999 – 2001. Started practising as a lawyer at international law firm Beiten Burkhardt (2001 – 2002) and energy law firm Becker Büttner Held (2002 – 2007). Joined CMS Hasche Sigle in 2007.
