Dr. Eckhard Schmid is a partner and head of the German practice group Employment Law. He advises and represents German and foreign – in particular US – companies with respect to all employment law issues, in particular restructuring. Further focal points of his practice are advising supervisory boards and management board members and managing directors in the conclusion and termination of service agreements as well as during the ongoing service relationship, compliance and liability issues, investigation of wrongful acts at companies as well as litigation in employment and service contract matters.

After a bank traineeship at Commerzbank in Heilbronn, starting in 1980 legal studies and academic assistant at the University of Konstanz, work abroad at banks in Italy and Spain, the German-French Chamber of Commerce in Paris and a law firm in the USA. Scholarship recipient of the German Foreign Academic Service. After the second state exam 1986 military service as legal employee in the personnel department at the Federal Ministry of Defense. Doctorate 1988 with Prof. Dr. Rüthers in Konstanz on "Termination and Protection against Dismissal during Insolvency". 1989 staff member in the Foreign Office Department of Bayerische Landesbank in Munich. Lawyer since 1990, specialist in employment law since 1994, partner since 1995, head of the employment law practice group of CMS Hasche Sigle since 2010. Member of European Employment Lawyers Association (EELA) and the working group Employment Law in the German Lawyers' Association.

Numerous presentations on employment law topics, inter alia "The Internet: The right of privacy at work in the use of new technologies", "Current employment law for executives", "Termination without notice of managing directors and management board members", "Investigation and securing of evidence relating to wrongful actions in companies – legal and technical possibilities" and most recently on 12 November 2009 at the CMS Practitioners' Seminar: "Coaching for Supervisory Board and Advisory Board Members – Rights, Duties, Liability Risks" on the topic "Competence in Personnel Matters for Management Board Members and Managing Directors".
