Mr. Smielick has extensive knowledge and long-lasting experience in all areas of intellectual property law. His main focus lies on advice given to national and international clients on patent law, in particular the presentation of clients in patent infringement proceedings in all technical areas.
A further focus of his practice is on R&D agreements and licence agreements in the area of technology transfer, in particular the consultancy of large and midsized companies with regard to R&D cooperations between other companies, universities or R&D service providers.

Born on 23 November 1972. Studied law at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelm University in Bonn, Germany. First state examination at the end of 1999. Legal trainee in Cologne from 2001 until 2003. Worked in a freelance capacity for the Cologne office of CMS Hasche Sigle (formerly Norton Rose Vieregge) during this period.
Mr. Smielick is a specialised IP lawyer and employed as a lawyer in the field of intellectual property in the Cologne office since the beginning of 2003. He is a member of the German Association for Intellectual Property and Copyright Law (GRUR), the Licensing Executive Society (L.E.S.), the VPP (association of IP experts) and the German Association for Travel law (DGfR).
