Born in Karlsruhe in 1968. Spent one year in USA after Abitur (A Levels)in 1988. Studied law in Freiburg from 1989, first state exam (Erstes Juristisches Staatsexamen) 1994. Worked as assistant at chair of Prof. Dr Wolfgang Lüke, Technical University Dresden from 1994 to 1997. Legal traineeship in Berlin 1997-1999, employed in a law firm. Second state exam(Zweites Juristisches Staatsexamen) in 1999. Doctorate on an aspect of home ownership in 2001. Began practising as a lawyer with CMS Hasche Sigle in Stuttgart in 1999. 2003 six month secondment with Greenberg, Traurig, Miami.
