Frankfurt am Main - Formica Group, a global leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of surfacing materials, is acquiring full ownership of Homapal Plattenwerk GmbH & Co. KG, a manufacturer of metal and specialty laminates. Formica Group has been a 50 percent shareholder – and the largest customer – of the Herzberg am Harz, Germany-based company since 1983.
A team led by Frankfurt M&A Partner Dr. Oliver Wolfgramm advised Formica Group on all aspects of the transaction. CMS Hasche Sigle has been advising Formica Group for some time on its German operations.
Homapal manufactures laminates of aluminum, brass, copper and other metal foil in various plain and design effects. Its 23,000 sqm facility is located in the center of Germany, approximately 100 km south of Hanover, and employs 70 associates. Formica Group currently procures and distributes approximately 40 percent of Homapal's output while a network of strategic business partners distribute the remaining 60 percent.
