Lebenslauf

Born 1950 in Schwaebisch Gmuend. Studied law and economics in Tuebingen. Scholarship from the Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation. Doctorate in international law. Research assistant at the University of Tuebingen. LL.M. in "U.S. and Global Business Law", Suffolk University, Boston, MA (22 of 24 credits with high honors) (2009).
Joined the law firm CMS Hasche Sigle in Stuttgart (formerly: Sigle Loose Schmidt-Diemitz) in 1983; Partner since 1987. 1984/1985, he worked for the then largest law firm in Dallas, Texas, USA (Johnson & Swanson).
He concentrates his practice on international corporate and commercial transactions, e.g. M&A, joint ventures, forming subsidiaries in Germany and abroad, and commercial agreements and he is in-volved in international litigation, and international arbitration, but usually restricted to corporate and commercial matters. He has represented clients in or with respect to more than 50 countries and 80 jurisdictions, and on all continents.


Chair of the Institute for International and Comparative Law and member of the Advisory Board of the Institute for Transnational Arbitration, both with the Center for American and International Law (CAIL), Dallas, Texas; Chair of the "International Committee" of the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC) (2007-2009), member of the American Bar Association (ABA), the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC); the German Institution of Arbitration (DIS), the International Bar Association (IBA), the Interpacific Bar Association (IPBA), the British Institute for International and Comparative Law (BIICL), the European Lawyers Association (DACH), the German American Lawyers Association (DAJV), the Schweizerisch-Deutsche Wirtschaftsclub in Baden-Wuerttemberg, the German American Chamber of Commerce New York, and the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce.
Recipient of Kemmler Award for his outstanding contributions to the World Law Group (2007) and of the Joan Fullam Irick Award in recognition of his "exceptional leadership" as Chair of the International Committee of the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC).
